The Financial Reporting Team in Exton complies with tight deadlines imposed by Corporate Finance related to the Global Close Calendar to ensure that XL Capital as a whole is able to make accurate and timely filings to the SEC as required for publicly held companies under Sarbanes Oxley.
Under general supervision this position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the general ledger through use of the financial controls related to the compilation of data and reconciliation of accounts.
As Intermediate Accountant you will ensure the financial data is valid, accurate and timely. You will be responsible for the production of various general ledger reports that assist in the monthly/quarterly close and in analyses of the financial data. You will assist in the development, documentation and implementation of internal controls as well as P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations which are a key control function.
Your responsibilities will include:

Validating financial results for assigned OBU's using performance metrics, through ledger activity reviews.
Work in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities with general supervision
Consistently submitting a highly accurate work product
Validation of results through the use of general knowledge of changes in the overall financial structure of certain OBU contracts/treaties and other planned business changes.
Have a firm knowledge the reconciliation process of cash based balance sheet accounts with the ability to understand data feed processes/stages in order to assess and determine potential problem areas.
Identify and bring to Managements attention, areas where potential deficiencies could occur or anomalies in results to avoid potential errors in data.
Research specific causes of anomalies using Excel and Access skills incorporating financial activity and results and to coordinate with all parties (with assistance of your supervisor) involved in order to develop and successfully implement a resolution.
In this role you will report to the Supervisor of Financial Reporting.
Were looking for someone who has these values, abilities, and skills:
Bachelors of Science in Accounting or related field.
Minimum 5 years finance experience in a progressively responsible role.
Insurance industry preferred.
A strong knowledge accounting principles including GAAP, STAT, and financial statement close processes preferred.
Strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Access.
Good communication, analytical, and problem solving skills.
Organized, able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight financial close deadlines.
Mental Agility: Innovative thinker, willing to turn ideas on their head. Bright and can handle highly complex situations.
Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration and presentation skills.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
