3D R&D Chemist - Contract roleArkema - Sartomer R&D teamExton, PAWe are seeking a contract Chemist to join Arkema and our 3D R&D team, as part of our Sartomer business, based in Exton, PA.
This contract position will report to a manager, lead or senior scientist, and will be part of a team working in a dynamic laboratory environment to develop new materials for Sartomer's rapidly expanding 3D printing product line.
This position is laboratory focused with core job responsibilities related to formulating chemical compositions of 3D printing ink, and characterization of materials across a wide variety of chemical and physical techniques.
The researcher will experience and work with core research and development programs and gain exposure to the full process of product development.
This position provides an opportunity to learn about and operate the latest in photo curable 3D printers along with analytical and mechanical instruments such as DSC, DMA, TGA, UV/Vis, FTIR, Refractometer, Viscometer and Instron.
Data analysis, organization and formal reporting of results is expected.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLABORATORY:
Solves technical problems through manipulation of chemical recipes, printing hardware and characterization of 3D printing inks and materials.
Performs laboratory testing tasks using analytical techniques such as DSC, DMA, TGA, UV/Vis and FTIR spectrometry, tensile, MVTR etc.
Evaluate chemical and physical properties of various formulations and products.
Formulate products and components under the direction of supervisor.
Works in cross functional and cross BU teams to accomplish laboratory milestones.
Develop expertise in Sartomer technologies in areas of responsibility.
PRESENTATION AND REPORTING:
Organize data for reporting to direct supervisor and functional management.
Explain outcomes and make recommendations for improvements or next steps.
Present results at work group and project team level, verbally and in writing.
Explain project goals and status to business management and other internal customers.
Become conversant with overall Sartomer technologies and markets Maintain complete and accurate records of experiments and results.

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENTProject work will take place in the corporate R&D facility located in Exton, PA.
As with all laboratories a variety of chemical, physical ergonomic and electrical hazards exist.
Safe work practices are a must and extensive training is provided to all employees to address hazards.
This position may require some local travel to other Arkema sites to share knowledge, technical skill sets and equipment.
Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc.

) Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering (with preferred majors in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering).
Lab or other practical experience through internship or university classes.
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and databases) required Experience in UV/EB curing preferred.
