ASSISTANT ESTIMATOR

The Assistant Estimator is responsible for assisting an upper level estimating team in the preparation of construction cost estimates for projects. A consistent dependable leader, who
accepts her or his duties and responsibilities, gets their work done thoroughly and accurately, and on time the first time.
Essential Functions:
Review estimates for adequacy, uniformity, and completeness.
Evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes and bid information.
Interact with clients and upper level management.
Prepare conceptual and comparative cost study estimates from preliminary sketches.
Prepare detailed breakdowns of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems.
Accumulate, evaluate, and document historical cost data for the development of future estimates.
Review contract documents and modifications to determine scope of work and costs for scope changes.
Interact, solicit and establish good working relationships with subcontractor and suppliers
Excellent blue print reading skills.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Strong communication skills.
Ability to multi-task in pressure situations, attention to detail, positive demeanor.
Excellent customer service, proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, On-Center Take-off, Adobe Acrobat, and Power Point.
Excellent organizational, computer, and communications skills required.
Must have the ability to proactively build relationships with office, field staff and clients.
5 to 10 Years of Preconstruction Experience in Estimating, Planning, and Purchasing of Projects in the following sectors; Health Care, Biotech, Higher Education, and Pharmaceutical.
EDUCATION AND WORK
Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Engineering or related field.
0 to 5 Years of Experience of Preconstruction Experience in Estimating, Planning, and Purchasing of Projects.
Experience with technical facility construction with a focus on Health Care, Pharmaceutical, Bio-tech, and / or Higher EducationEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
