Position Title: Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager

Summary:

The Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager is a newly established role within Bentley s growing Controllership function. This role will have responsibility for supporting the financial reporting process, technical accounting analysis and application, financial analysis, and will be a key contributor for all SEC reporting and filings, such as Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K.

Additionally, in this role, the Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager will conduct periodic technical accounting research, develop initial views on application, and assist in developing documentation to support positions taken by the Company. The Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager will also play a crucial role in continuing to build out a robust analysis function within the Controllership team. Participation in ad hoc special projects will be approximately 20% of this position s time. The Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager will have high visibility to senior management and is based in our global headquarters in Exton, PA (currently the Exton based team is working remote due to COVID-19).


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the financial reporting team by leading significant aspects of the financial reporting process focused on the timely preparation and filing of all external quarterly and annual financial filings in compliance with US GAAP and SEC reporting rules, through Workiva (Wdesk online reporting).
  • Directly contribute to the timely preparation and filing of all quarterly, annual and other periodic SEC filings (10-Qs, 1O Ks, 8-Ks), including financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and all supporting documentation.
  • Maintain adequate tie-out and footnote support.
  • Manage the internal and external review for these documents.
  • Prepare and/or review technical accounting positions on new complex arrangements.
  • Assist in preparation of Senior Management materials including Board of Directors package and quarterly/annual reporting in earnings releases and Investor Relations presentations.
  • Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide U.S. GAAP interpretation and prepare technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner.
  • Support the Company s implementation of internal controls in support of SOX compliance.
  • Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to the management team.
  • Conduct SEC research and analysis on peer filings and disclosures.
  • Completion of quarterly disclosure checklist.
  • Prepare basic and diluted earnings per share calculations.
  • Maintain and enhance reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements.
  • Coordinate audit requests with external auditors.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects as requested.

Skills & Experience Required

  • B.S. Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA, CA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Big 4 and/or public company experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Detailed level understanding of U.S GAAP accounting and SEC reporting standards.
  • SAP ERP and Workiva Wdesk knowledge and experience a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly productive and dependable team player.
  • Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to process improvement and the ability to think out of the box.
